2010-07-07 William Wei Netherlands Institute of Cultural Heritage We are the Dutch national institute for the conservation of "moveable" cultural heritage including art. We are conducting projects studying the effect of cleaning on the appearance of objects. This is a critical issue related to making decisions about the restoration of valuable objects of cultural heritage and works of art. We use, among others, non-contact surface profilometry (white light confocal profilometry), colour and spectral measurements (colour meters and spectroradiometer), digital imaging, surface chemistry techniques, and perception testing.
